Kostel Zvěstování Panny Marie stojí západně od historického centra Berouna na místě někdejšího hlavního městského hřbitova. Ten byl založen roku 1520 a až do roku 1904 sloužil jako hlavní pohřebiště města; dnes je jeho prostor upraven jako park. Kostel má za sebou složitý stavební vývoj. Původní gotická stavba z roku 1526 byla za třicetileté války zpustošena, v letech 1738–1744 znovu vystavěna v barokní podobě a na počátku 20. století neobarokně přestavěna. Spolu s hřbitovem tvoří hodnotný areál, k němuž patří také kostnice s barokní fasádou, původně z roku 1567, kamenná ohradní zeď, hřbitovní brána, výklenková kaplička a kašna se sochou sv. Jana Nepomuckého. Z původního množství náhrobků se dochovaly tři, mimo jiné náhrobek z roku 1793 a pískovcový náhrobek se sochou Krista.
